My name is Nia Harris but one day I’d like to be known as Nia Symoné, my designated author title. I like to think of myself as a person who is open to all things. New experiences and situations excite me. I go through the world thinking of all the possibilities that can happen during these experiences and what I can do to incorporate what I’ve learned into my everyday life. 

Maybe this all comes from the fact that I’ve never really been static in my life. During my childhood I had lived in three different states and many homes. My family is not all in one place, so I am constantly moving from place to place during my time. I am also an avid reader, and the books I read take me to thousands of places where I can have thousands of experiences. As someone who likes to draw, my creations are a whole experience by themselves where I can learn something new from the simple stroke of a paintbrush. As a writer I can create my own experiences through my characters who help me learn from different perspectives as well as their own experiences. I love all forms of art and am currently in the works of starting up my own Etsy shop where I can share my art with the world. But, who knew that building your own business while in college would be so challenging!! 

I believe my experiences as well as other factors, have shaped me into the person I am today. An open minded, young black woman who seeks to learn any way she can. And with that I hope to show you through the creation of my portfolio.
